Winning Combinations:

We are looking for a pretty/ handsome face with personality, confidence and appealingness. “Made In America” competitions are “TOTAL PACKAGE” natural shine pageants providing opportunities for entrants to showcase appearance and talents.  We are a scholarship system aimed at talent development.

ss

At “Made In America” tri-county, regional, special event and state pageants, the PRIMARY COMPETITION generally offers two classes: males and females in two competition categories at each 2 day pageant. Our competitions are held over 2 days to provide an atmosphere of calm and focus for our entrants and their families and supporters. Day 1 is the appealing appearance "Shining Star Walk" category competition and Day 2 is the glitter and glam themed “outfit of choice” category and crowning.

Boys and girls compete against each other in the age range divisions and compete against each other for overall combined high point score appealing appearance and outfit of choice/talent titles. The age ranges are: 4 to 8 yrs, 9 to 12 yrs and 13 to 17 yrs. The Director reserves the right to combine any age division with less than 2 contestants in it to create a significant competition field.

The standard two competition categories are (1) an appealing appearance Shining Star Model Walk with maximum 90 second model walk, and (2) a themed 2 minute to maximum 4 minute “outfit of choice” portion. Talent showcasing beyond a "model walk" is encouraged during this “outfit of choice” competition.

Music for the model walk competition will be the selection of choice of the pageant. Music for the “outfit of choice” competition will be at the discretion of the contestant. It must be NO LONGER than 4 minutes and have no profanity or suggestibility

"Shining Star Walk" Category:

The appealing appearance category is "NATURAL SHINE" which means CAN BE a little more than natural yet not at all "high glitz."  We expect contestants to let their natural appealingness shine through by upholding a classical “less is more” approach to their presentation. Each contestant will have 90 seconds to present a T-formation model walk.

What is a T- formation model walk? The contestant goes to the center back of the presentation floor or stage, walks straight forward to the front of the floor/stage-does a complete turn...goes to her/his far right of the floor/stage-does a complete turn...goes to her/his far left of the floor/stage-does a complete turn...returns to the front center stage...turns and then exits the presentation area. Time can be taken at the different positions for smiles and other audience/judge engagement tools.

"NATURAL SHINE" Overall and Appealing Appearance Competition guidelines:

Make up and Hair: All presentations must be Wholesome and Age Appropriate. In general: corrective contact lenses can be worn: eye color changing contacts may NOT. Young ladies may wear up to 2" heels for beauty in the 10 + year old division. No contestant may wear mouth “flippers” or artificial eyelashes in any portion of the pageant. Obvious artifical tanning via spray or tanning bed is prohibited. NON TINTED body lotion may be used to give entrants an even satin finish.

For model walk, entrants may NOT wear foundation or base make up applications or eye shadow. Clear or pink or natural lip gloss and nail polish for all ages and clear mascara application is acceptable for ages 7 and below. Conservative blue, green or medium brown colored eye liner and mascara applications in keeping with the entrant's eye color are permitted in categories 8 to 12 yrs and above but BLACK is never acceptable. Light blush, light fixative pressed powder and clear, natural or pink lip gloss is acceptable in the 7 to 12 yrs category and above. No contestants may wear hair extensions or pieces, “flippers” or artificial eyelashes for their "Shining Star Walk."  Questions about acceptability will ultimately be brought BY THE JUDGES to the Director on a case by case basis for evaluation. The decision of the Director is FINAL.

Attire: Beauty wear should be “Sunday Best, Dapper Dude, Flower Girl, Evening Wear or Pageant Dress” (short or long). Beauty attire may be embellished with lace, embroidery, pearls and light sequin highlights. Extensive inlays of ONLY rhinestones are NOT an acceptable embellishment in appealing appearance category presentations!  No bare midriffs are acceptable.

“Made In America” reserves the right to check all contestants before they take the stage! Decision of the Director as to appropriateness is FINAL and could range from specific point reduction in the category to exclusion from competition.

Children's Talent Showcase (Themed “Outfit of Choice”/ Talent) Category:    Although "glitzy" make-up, false hair and other artifice are excluded in the model walk category, a more “costumed” (dressy or flashy) attire is acceptable in the themed category. Wigs, stage type make up and reasonable props are allowed. Costumes must be theme related, can be production quality but still must be age appropriate.  No bare midriffs are acceptable.

Talent showcasing beyond the standard model walk is encouraged during this 2 minute to maximum four (4) minute presentation. Please approach the talent competition from the perspective of a broad range of possible choices. There's not just singing or dancing at MIA pageants: a little magic, flute or high kicking always welcome!

The 2-4 minute talent presentation can encompass props and can be set to the music of the contestant's choice if desired.  Details on both are available upon entry.  “Made In America” does not allow the use of live animals, fire, water, chemical smoke, pyrotechnics or similar agents in the competition. Props should be reasonable and cleared in advance at time of registration. Instructions for prop approval and handling will be issued at that time. Baton twirlers may not throw into the air during a presentation. Singers may amplify their natural voices if desired. If there is a question as to the presentation, “Made In America” will gladly review a video computer file of the act. No coaching or assessment will be offered or implied. The sole purpose of such a viewing is to ensure health, welfare and safety at the pageant. Contact us.

“Made In America” reserves the right to inquire about and approve of talent presentations if warranted before they take the stage! Decision of the Director as to appropriateness is FINAL and could range from specific point reduction in the category to exclusion from competition.

A message from the Director:  After a great weekend of wonderful, talented children, our vision of child development through the grooming of appealing appearance and presentation and skills development with future vision, I wanted to take a moment to thank our all volunteer staff and the families who participated.  You have certainly made these moments unforgettable!

To future entrants, I offer some words of guidance:

If you read the rules and the policies of the MIA system and decide that they do not pertain to you because you are special, please do not participate in our events: we are not changing the rules just for you.  If you think that even though we are very careful to state that we do not hold "BEAUTY" contests, except in BB&T, but you can't imagine that we are serious, please do not participate in our events: we are serious.   If you think that bullying, speaking untruths, aggressive behaviors and false accusations will encourage us to change the rules for you, please do not participate in our events: your inappropriate behaviors are not selling points for your position.  If you are a racist, sexist, homophobe or ageist, please do not participate in our events: we embrace all people.

In other words, we are nice people trying to do nice things for children to build their self esteem and empower their futures.  We do things the way we do them...we are sure that you could do them much better and encourage you to do so....BUT if you just want your child to feel good, have a great time and gain life experience without a background of adult drama to ruin the fun...check us out. And if our system doesn't sound like your "cup of tea" we are okay with that and wish you well.  Blessed be!
