Courtesy First” Standards:

Profanity in any form from any one under any circumstances will result in immediate contestant disqualification with no REFUND or recourse. The decision of the Director is FINAL. Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated and will result in the disqualification of the contestant without benefit of a refund or recourse. Security issues will be dealt with according to venue or municipality guidelines.

Coaching Competitors:

Please minimize any off stage coaching over the age of 5. Allow the children to be themselves without the pressure of doing it all just right! Acceptable for contestants 5 years of age and under is reminding a child to smile or telling her/him to move from x to x or asking for a wave to the judges. Unacceptable coaching for contestants 5 years of age and under includes, for example, standing in a chair behind the judges at anytime, doing a child's full routine for beauty or outfit of choice/talent so that she/he may follow.

One "start over" called for by the contestant is the limit.  If a second "start over" is called by the contestant, that contestant will compete at the end of the division set with the understanding that there is a 10 point deduction from the category score and there are no "at the end start overs."  If the pageant calls for a "start over" it does not count.  Again, an occasional  cue/prompt  is okay so that the contestant remains confident but still allow each to try it independently because this will allow for growth! After all, it should be about growth: the process, progress and product over time...not just a win for today!

“Made In America” contestants and their legal parents and/or guardians agree to assume all liability connected to pageant participation which is voluntary. They further agree to hold “Made In America”and any and all of its representatives unequivocally harmless in all matters related to their participation. Contestants and legal parents and/or guardians agree to abide by the current policies and criterion of the system as stated in any and all publications either virtual or in print.

Parent or legal guardian agrees to (1) offer for verification a copy of the contestant's birth certificate at check-in.  It is understood that no copy will made: just a note that it was verified and (2) bring a simple snapshot of entrant to attach to entry form for indentification purposes only for judges during scoring deliberation. The snapshot intself is NOT judged.

What is a "Natural Shine" pageant? "NATURAL SHINE" means a little more than natural yet not at all "high glitz." We expect contestants to let their natural appealingness shine through by upholding a classical “less is more” approach to their presentation within the larger range of acceptable models.

It is understood that photographs containing contestants may be used by MIA Pageants in the conduct of system business and agree to such use. It is further agreed only those contestants whose fees are paid in full prior to the start of the pageant for the competitions they choose to enter will compete.

Flash photography and/or video recording of any parts of the competition other than crowning ceremonies is prohibited.

A message from the Director:  After a great weekend of wonderful, talented children, our vision of child development through the grooming of appealing appearance and presentation and skills development with future vision, I wanted to take a moment to thank our all volunteer staff and the families who participated.  You have certainly made these moments unforgettable!

To future entrants, I offer some words of guidance:

If you read the rules and the policies of the MIA system and decide that they do not pertain to you because you are special, please do not participate in our events: we are not changing the rules just for you.  If you think that even though we are very careful to state that we do not hold "BEAUTY" contests, except in BB & T, but you can't imagine that we are serious, please do not participate in our events: we are serious.   If you think that bullying, speaking untruths, aggressive behaviors and false accusations will encourage us to change the rules for you, please do not participate in our events: your inappropriate behaviors are not selling points for your position.  If you are a racist, sexist, homophobe or ageist, please do not participate in our events: we embrace all people.

In other words, we are nice people trying to do nice things for children to build their self esteem and empower their futures.  We do things the way we do them...we are sure that you could do them much better and encourage you to do so....BUT if you just want your child to feel good, have a great time and gain life experience without a background of adult drama to ruin the fun...check us out. And if our system doesn't sound like your "cup of tea" we are okay with that and wish you well.  Blessed be!
